Government Makes Obscene Profits on Gasoline
I just returned from Los Angeles where gasoline is routinely $4.00 dollars a gallon. Of course, this is rather expensive, although when adjusted for inflation is not the most expensive gas in history which occurred during the Jimmy Carter debacle. Yes, another factoid that liberals don't want to share with the dumb and the uninformed.
Did you know that the government profit on a gallon of gas in Los Angeles is $.71 cents? Yes, for doing absolutely nothing but sitting on their unaccountable asses, the federal, state and local governments get immense profits to waste on worthless government programs. I find it amazing that the government has the nerve to chastise Big Oil who nets a profit of only $.09 cents a gallon, much of which is reinvested into oil exploration.
In yet another inconvenient truth, it turns out that the government makes a profit that is nearly 8 times greater than the companies that actually bring the oil to our local filling stations. Perhaps it is time for government to look at their own obscene profits and understand that we could have an immediate reduction in gasoline prices if they would reduce, or better yet eliminate, fuel taxes.
As prices continue to rise in other consumer goods, one has to wonder how much of an impact the gas price is playing. Certainly it is costing more to transport goods and to provide services. This is largely the result of rising fuel costs. If the government ceased their practice of stealing an amount equal to nearly 20% of a gallon of gas, wouldn't it make sense that other consumer goods would fall by a similar amount? Perhaps rather than blaming Big Oil for this problem they should take a long hard look in the mirror as once again government is proving to be the majority of the problem.
Then again, this is nothing new. Government is an inherently inept bureaucracy filled with unaccountable employees who could never find a job in the private sector. If you don't believe, take a drive down to your local DMV or drive through a neighborhood government housing project and consider that this is exactly what our healthcare system will look like if we ever enact socialized medicine.
Yes, government is a disaster of epic proportions, especially at the federal level. Perhaps it is time to ask how many government employees we could do without? Is it 20%, 30%, 50% of the workforce? Aside from the military, is there really any need for any federal government? We have wasteful bureaucracies ranging from the Department of Health and Human Services to the Department of Education. We have an unaccountable postal service that would be more efficient and effective if it were outsourced to the private sector. In all, we have over 44,000 federal programs that are basically nothing more than a waste of everyone's time and money and in reality benefit only a very few constituents that comprise the voting base of the moveon.org Democrat Party.
Ah-ha, now we are onto something. Democrat Party, voting base, constituents and entitlements. Gee, imagine that; an entire federal government that has been designed to buy votes from the nanny state entitlement class. Once again, the truth has been revealed and at its rotten core lies yet more of the liberal agenda that seeks to do nothing but steal more of what is ours and give it to those who are too damn lazy to get a job. So the next time B. Hussein Obama rambles on about change, give some consideration to the type of change he is talking about as it undoubtedly means stealing more from us to give to his nanny state constituents.
